OK...How about Recliners in 3051S?
OK, now that we've had our 3051S for a few weeks, I'm already sick of the uncomfortable sofa. After several posts and replies from Brian Clemens and Joshua, it became clear that FR had no intention of making recliners available in the 3051S like they have in other models anytime soon. So we gave up and ordered our Forester anyway. I know it will not be cheap, but has anyone else replaced the sofa in their 3050/3051S ??
Thanks

We love the sofa in our 3051s. We use it a lot. Plus we store 12-packs of soda, club soda and we even have a 6-bottle case of wine under there.
I'm sure FR told you there is the sub-woofer under there and a massive wiring channel that would all be exposed without the sofa there. Tale a look, there must be 3-doz pairs of wires on that back wall.
I'd doubt that there is enough room to put two recliners there, as well.

We took the sofa out of our 3051 and replaced with two La-z-boy recliners. They are wall huggers and don't hit the wire connector and was able to move the sub woofer to one end of the tv box. The sofa wasn't comfortable to sit or sleep on.

We don't have an outdoor TV, so wouldn't have to worry about that.

How did you anchor the recliners down? and do the existing seat belts function on the recliners?
I checked under our sofa and there is nothing under it...no wire connectors, sub-woofer or anything but the seat belts. Looks like a clear area.

We use ratchet tie downs when traveling. Haven't used seat belts yet.

The sofa is secured to the floor by bolts, which I think could be adapted to attach recliners too maybe with additional brackets. I'm going to check that out. I think that also the existing seat belts could possibly be threaded up through the recliners to use. We probably wouldn't have anyone riding in the recliners while were driving anyway though. The sofa measures 68" so it looks like the maximum width of each recliner would have to be 34".

Thought that was a standard feature on the 3051?

I just put these Pinnacle Lazy boy recliners and a table in our trailer. The slide out is 87" X 42". They fit great with a little bit of room left. All are free standing and are riding on carpet.

You do realize this is a specific forum for Foresters and this thread was specifically about fitting recliners into a 3051s Class C, right?

Lol just wanted to make sure you knew where you were. I see a lot of posts from people asking travel trailer questions in the motorhome section so you never know.

Kj, many folks just use the "New Posts" link on the menubar. They don't know which sub-forum they are responding to. Not making excuses... I don't much care for it either, but that's how it is.
