Picking up New 3011DS Friday

It's finally in!! We went up and looked at it today and should be coming home with it this Friday after spending the night at the dealer. Only problem we noticed is the entry door needs adjusting as there is a small amount of daylight showing thru. They did an excellent job on everything else. Paint looks good and we really love the pull down black out shades we ordered instead of the two handed day/night that always fall apart. I forgot to snap a couple of pictures but will do that when it is cleaned up. And yes, it does have LED tail/brake/backup lights and the LED clearance lights on the cap.

One question.....Does anybody know what the light switch right next to the Fantastic fan control is for? It is not for any of the overhead or under counter lights as near as we could tell and is not a power switch for the fan control. Our salesman was not sure without looking in to it.

Can't help you with the light switch question yet. Our 3171DS just arrived at the dealer today, but we haven't gotten by to see it yet. Waiting for our salesman to contact us for the walk thru. Couple of quick question, how long was your walk thru? Did you take a check list of your own with you and if so, what was on it? Thx, Ben

We have not done the walk thru yet. That will be done Thursday I hope. Dealer said it should take about 3 hours. We wanted to see it since the unit was ordered with some unusual changes (eliminated window over bed, pull down blackout shades).

Here is a link to the PDI checklist I plan on using

I downloaded a 10 page walkthrough when I went through mine but didn't end up using it. Here is a list of the probs with my '16 3171DS.

1. Subwoofer fuse blown. If the audio is all treble then sub is not working, period.
2. Broken composite cable on bunk tv
3. Jensen in wall dvd would load dvd and stop playing after 2 min. (take a few test dvds and get them all going at the same time on different tvs.
4. Sat cable severed.
5. dream dinette had a wrinkle in the facing
6. Passenger recline issue (specific to 3171 without outdoor tv opt)
7. Playing a DVD from front dash to main tv results in analog scan lines running across tv
8. When in nav mode with no radio playing, hearing occasional popping sound from speakers.
9. LP Tank gauge defective

Honestly, I didn't feel compelled to spend all day at the dealership going through the coach with a fine tooth comb as many people insist needs to be done. Instead I did a basic walk through and have discovered most of my issues spending time in the coach in my own driveway.

I just ordered my 3011 with same option of no window over the bed. At first the dealer said F.R. Rep said no...then when I contacted the factory rep, I got a yes. Having that window over the bed is really a dumb idea. It's cold / wet / in the way when sitting up in bed. I am really looking forward to seeing your pictures GL1800Rider . There are only poor pictures of the 2016 paint scheme. Having a hard time waiting 10 weeks for delivery

Thx for the info GL1800 and Stever. Went and looked at our unit today and took a few pictures. So far they have all the options we ordered and proper interior and paint. Will be signing papers and doing the walk thru with a tech this Thursday. Hope all goes well.
Quick question, what's the best way to post pictures?

Try this benagi.
How do I use albums?
As a member, you can create Albums of images that are linked to your public profile. Albums can be created by visiting the User Control Panel, and clicking on the 'Pictures & Albums' link, and then clicking on 'Add Album'.
Each album can have a title ('Joe's Holiday to Nepal'), a description ('A bunch of photos from my recent adventure') and can be of three different types: Public, Private or Profile.
  • Public albums can be viewed by anyone
  • Private albums can only be viewed by site staff (moderators, administrators) and your Friends and Contacts (info)
  • Profile albums are viewable only by you. However, you can use the images to customize your public profile (info)
How do I upload pictures?
Once you've created an album you can upload images to it. Simply view the album and click on 'Upload Pictures'.
You'll have the option to give each picture a caption, and to set one image as the Album cover, which will be displayed on the public profile. To delete an album or edit the title, description or album type, click on 'Edit Album'. To delete an image, or to edit a caption or change the album cover, click on 'Edit Pictures'.
All members who have access to your album images can comment on them, in a similar way to Profile Comments (more info). You can delete any image comments from your albums, and report inappropriate messages to moderators.
When you have uploaded a picture, you can place it in your posts by using the BB code text that is displayed below the image when you view it at full size.

Thx vwexpert on helping me set up an album. If anyone wants to see the pics I took today, go to my profile and checkout the album I just posted. I have a couple of photos in there that need rotating. Will work on another day. Long day, time to hit it.

vwexpert, I will post pictures by Saturday. Just an FYI, verify verify verify on the window delete. This is our SECOND unit as the first one came in wrong. Order said "eliminate egress window over bed/move to back" Well, they did that but put a non egress window over the bed!! Area rep offered to put another one in line for us which was scheduled for production but not sold. It took about 4 more weeks but the build quality is 100% better. Only screw up (equally my fault) the replacement ordered unit came in without the wood grain dash. We are trying to find out if this can be swapped out in Goshen.

One other thing, you may want to see if they will install the pull down black out shades instead of the day/night. They should run between $200-$300 depending on your model. Brian says we are the Guinea Pigs on this one. Besides being more durable and easier to operate we noticed a huge difference in the amount of heat they let through when we went up to check it out. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Bill

The Forest River Forums App is the fastest and easiest way IMO. I highly recommend it if you have a supported device like an iPhone. Here is a view of me making this post. Click image for larger version

The app lets you take a picture from within the app or select a picture from your camera roll. Then, you can choose the quality you desire and it is immediately uploaded and coded within the page as you see here. Click image for larger version

I'll also have to play around with albums. That's kind of a cool feature.

I will verify "window delete over bed" GL1800Rider. My salesman double checked with factory rep and the rep said they were going to delete the window on all 2016 3011's. I think they agree its not needed and is more of an annoyance. Is your coach Indigo or clay paint scheme?

It is Indigo and the name Forester is on the front and sides. May be hard to see with glare from the sun. Boy was it hot inside when we looked at it yesterday, over 100.
