Pinholes in canopy

I have a 2015 Sunseeker 2401R with a nice long canopy on the passenger side. Last time I had it out, I noticed pinholes in the top close to the anchor point. Looks like the canopy is deteriorating on the top when rolled up. Considering sticking some flexible flashing on the top of the 'roll' to stop the deterioration.

Any one else out there dealt with this?

What you are looking at is most likely the needle holes where the loop was sewn for the spline that slides into the channel that holds the end of the awning against the coach sidewall. The awnings do weather and stretch over time with exposure to the elements.
There is a metal cover made to protect the awning. Something like this: Dometic 21' Polar White Metal Weathershield - Awnings - Hardware
At this point, I suggest you just put some 303 Protectant or Awning Armor on the closed awning to make it last as long as possible then just replace the fabric with your favorite color. YMMV

I put 8 inch wide Eternabond tape on both the awning and the slide out cover. When rolled up both are now protected from UV.

I think that's the approach I'm going to take. My RV sits out in the sun on my driveway all year. I think that will help. Wondering if I want to cover the connection extrusion so it doesn't rot out right at the edge. Thanks for your reply.
