Pioneer AVH-X390BS gps

Has anyone with the pioneer system figured out how to get a smart phone gps to show up on the pioneer screen? I have tried all I could find in the manual and watching YouTube videos. Supposedly you can connect the phone and see it's gps map on the dash.

I think the GPS display (actually, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto) is only available on Pioneer systems with NEX in the model number.

That may explain it. Of course it means nothing when the salesman says it uses your phone app. Lol.
I'll call pioneer for verification.

Well, I got Waze to come up but not impressed. Bought a new Magellan RV gps unit .
