Power For Awning

Extended my awning today, and was surprised to find the main battery cut off for the coach was in the off position.
(stairwell switch)
Is this the way it's designed to work, or do I have a wiring problem?
Thanks for any help.

Normal operation. Awning fused directly off of battery

If the awning fails to extend, remove the electrical panel (by steps on 2900) and replace the 15 amp (short) fuse. Blew a few of them.

As said its fused separately and has its own circuit. You'll also find as a safety measure it won't extend or retract with the engine running (or in gear...one of the two).

As stated before this is normal. Also note that the slides, generator start/operating circuit , big foot jacks, and chassis alternator charging of the batteries will function with the switch in Off. The converter when plugged into shore power will not charge the batteries with the switch in Off except on late 2014 and beyond models with progressive converters.
