Quartzite, anyone going?

Wondered if any of us Foresters and Sunseekers were planning on going in January? We plan to depending on El Nino. Last year, we slipped in and out between the wind and snow. It was fun! But then it's not for everyone.

Town has campgrounds with hookups or stay in the BLM just outside of town. There's miles and miles of open land to dry camp with a $40 fee for 15 days for short stay and longer stay available. Snow birds come down for the winter. Many RV clubs or just friends come out and circle the wagons.

Actually if you stay out of the long term visitor areas you can stay for free for 14 days.

Do a search for Quartzsite RVing and you'll find tons of videos that explain the whole thing in great detail. It's in Arizonia out I-10 in far western AZ. Not far from Blyth, CA.

In the hot months there are something like 3000 people and in the Winter it's 250,000. Thousands of RVs scattered on BLM land boondocking.

Going to be going to quartzside for a few days in mid February. Still a lot going on then? Places to get water and dump sewage? TV/cell phone reception?

We plan on a January trip from home (San Antonio) to Tucson and then Palm Desert. We'll be out a month. We'll go through Quartszite on I-10 and I'm talking to my wife about a 2 to 3 day stop there. We'll try to reserve a campground though - I'm not ready for bondocking in Quartzsite yet. Though the idea is interesting.

Gotta say, in general we don't like big crowds anywhere and since 250,000 folks pour into that town of 3,000 it's sounding unappealing.

SSmbs, if you are BLM camping, you can use the dump station at La Posa South for free. Yes they have potable water too. For propane, we went into Quartzite to the RV Stop. Check their schedule for events. Snow birds will surely still be there.

It a neat time and a huge RV show in January. I've been there 3 times. We prefer electric so we generally stayed in town. $25 per night or so. When I've stayed in the desert I never payed anything! Certain areas charge & have water & septic trucks come around. In town there are dump stations that also have water. Not sure what they charge but not much.

We stayed at the Beaudry RV Resort in Tucson on our trip back in 2010 going to Carlsbad. Guess it's a KOA Lazy Days now. Found another topic on Quartzsite with others planing on going. No Foresters or Sunseekers yet.

Yeah, that's where we're staying on this trip. We love Catalina State Park, but when staying longer than a few days the lack of sewer hooksups becomes an issue. Beaudry became Lazy Days - and now Lazy Days has KOA manage the park. Three weeks there is NOT cheap. Especially in the Winter.

Am there right now.......B-10 Campground, $199 per month, with electric, water......dump station on grounds. Cell service with Verizon excellent, campground wi-fi good if someones not stream'n, I'm using a hot-spot....back and forth thing. Very dry air here, might take a day or two to get used to it, lots or rock ( everywhere). This campground is right on main street, north side of I-10, has 126 sites. No big stores here, but there are stores, restaurants, giant flea markets on both sides of I-10. Have a visitors guide also..lots of info! Also, if you have awning poles, you'll need 'em....not a lot of wind, not steady, but there is some. Mid to upper 60's all next week, but sun feels warmer due to drier air. COME ON DOWN!
