question on 2016 Forester w/Jensen Nav radio

We haven't used the dash nav radio much or played any DVDs thru it to the television. I tried it today and got it to play the DVD with surround sound and picture on the TV. I then tried to play the TV and have the sound come out thru the surround sound speakers and got little or nothing. I played with the equalization and there's nothing to the rear yet the DVD comes thru fine. Any ideas?

Mines a 2015 and still has rca connections from the audio out on the tv. Yours might be HDMI but for mine I have to set the audio output on the tv and choose the aux 2 input on the Jensen.

Thanks, that's what I did to get the sound from the TV to go thru the radio but it only comes out the front speakers not the rear. Yes, I tried moving the equalizer to the rear and the sound goes dead. But it works using DVD's.

That’s bizarre, and I guess you don’t have a speaker selection switch somewhere else? Sorry man that’s all I’ve got, maybe play around with the speaker settings in the tv.

We don't have the MH or the Jensen any longer, but I will try to explain part of your questions. The DVD is integral to the dash head unit. Consequently, it will play surround sound. The TV is an add-on and likely has RCA connections to the head unit. If it has only two outputs (left/right) from the TV, you will only have front speakers. I'm not aware of a fader switch that works front to back. If the TV is connected to the head unit via an HDMI cable, the setting would have to be in the head unit.

I have the same unit in my mh connected with audio rca cables and the surround speakers and subwoofer work fine with the front rear fader.

Thanks, not sure why it works on DVD's but not TV. Will call Jensen tomorrow.

Oops! Just remembered, I rewired the upper outdoor speakers so they work off the outdoor radio entertainment center rather than the dash radio. Why did FR wired them to the dash radio when there is an outdoor TV and radio/DVD/sound for TV. What good are they upper speakers connected that way?
I'm not going to rewire it back to the factory settings for the outdoor speakers. Will just have to live with the poor-indoor main TV sound or maybe get a sound bar for it.

Ahh that makes sense, I don't have outside speakers so I didn't consider that. A soundbar sounds like a good option it would probably sound better too Glad you got it sorted.

Went out to the RV to check on connections before buying the sound bar and turned on TV and dash radio getting sound to front speakers. I pulled off the RCA plugs on the back of the TV and sound stopped. I reinserted them and have sound in the front and rear now. Sounds soooo much better that there's no need for a sound bar. Go figure???? Nothing to do with my outdoor speaker rewiring.

speakers

We have a 2017 Forester 3051s built in 2016. We have a dash radio, a radio above the couch, and an outdoor tv with a radio and speakers, we also have 2 speakers under the awning that the inside radio controls, not the outside or dash one. also think the outside one should control it. would the wires be long enough to go from the cabinet down under the couch where the back of the radio (outside) is?

Thanks

Fantastic, I’ve been using DeOxit spray lately on electrical and audio connections it’s pretty good stuff.

Don’t have to do that any more with newer TVs that have multiple video inputs.

Just click Source on remote. But did have to play with the audio and turn off the TV sound, click on variable or Raw and Fixed on another setting to get it to play thru the dash Nav radio.
