remote / Ford alarm

Does the Ford door remote when set arm an alarm? We have the Magic Start installed. Don't ask why, long story. Just want to know if that would change the Ford setup.

Thanks

All depends on your vehicle. You'll need to find out if it has keyless entry or an alarm.

It works as a keyless remote. Just not sure about the alarm part.

If it is equipped with an alarm, first press locks doors second press of the button sets the alarm.

Yep. Lock/unlock and if you push lock again after locking the doors, you set the alarm. I have 2 Fords like that. Also if you hit the red button by mistake, that sets off the alarm!

I had the window down on the driver side set it then opened it from the inside but it did not Set It Off could that be the reason because I opened it from the inside?

Opening the door by reaching through the window should set off any alarm that has been set.

Never tried it cause I don't use the alarm at all. I would think there is a,built in delay before it goes off.

The ford remote controls the factory alarm (lock arms it unlock disarms it). As long as you are use them you should be fine.

I think you'll find the alarm is set with the first press of the button along with locking the doors. The second press is just to give you an audible signal letting you know the doors are locked and the alarm set. At least that's how I read what it said in the owners manual.

update

Well I went over to the RV yesterday. I set the so-called alarm and opened the door from the inside, nothing. I am going to call Ford and the Magic people and find out what is going on.
Thanks for all your guy's inputs.

Did you check for a fuse for the alarm? Maybe it does not have an alarm or disconnected for the start function.

The buttons work normal, lock / unlock and beep on the second push. Just not doing anything when opening the door. That is where I think they may have disconnected the alarm part when they installed the "Magic" thing. Thanks
