Replacing jack-knife sofa in Forester 2401R

Our jack-knife sofa's footprint is only 32 inches deep; we'd like to replace it but we can't find a recliner(s) or reclining loveseat with less than 35 inches of depth. We are worried about the slide being deep enough. Can we add a strip of wood to extend the slide to allow for a 35 inch deep recliner?

I changed out the love seat in our 2801qs mh to Thomas Payne theatre seats with a console. The slide is about 34” deep, the seats are advertised at 35” deep but that is to the front of the cushions. The actual frame of the seats lined up perfectly to the front edge of the slide with the seats pulled away from the back wall enough to fully extend.

Like Tombsey said...measure the lower front leg edge to the rear of the cushion.
Probably could even hang over a touch. Anchor them.

Not sure if OP has been back but here are a couple pics. Thomas Payne is a Lippert product the same maker as the love seat I removed.

Good luck with your mod! And hey, if you end up removing the long tray that is mounted to the wall, I would love to buy that from you. My 2801QS came without one.
