Rock Protection

We purchased the full paint and rock protection with our 2017 Forrester. The front of our RV and hood look seriously dirty. Please see picture. Does anybody have any experience with this problem or know how to clean it?

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. Did you assume this coating would keep your rig clean? or are you saying the coating has changed from clear to yellowing? You might try using some Meguiar's ultimate compound in a small area followed my Meguiar's polish and see if this clears things up. JMHO

No this covering “rock protector) was included in the show room model that we purchased. It was advertised to protect from rocks. It was clear when we bought it and won’t come clean with regular washing. Thanks for your suggestion.

I should have included in my post you might ask a body/paint shop that installs the 3M protective film what they do to remove the dull look.

Is this rock protection a stick on plastic sheet the was installed at the factory over your full body paint? If so, it goes by a couple different brand names but the root problem with these products is that mildew grows under the shield and it looks really ugly. I even saw examples of the mildew on new, unsold motorhomes that were only about a year old. The most common solution to the problem is to remove the shield. However it is very difficult and time consuming to remove.

If what I described is what you have, there is a lot of discussion about it in many of the motorhome subforums.

One of these products is called Diamond Shield. Here is information about it: https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...2&d=1570735453

There may still be a warranty on the product whereby you could get the mildew (or other) problem addressed.

Not sure but I would find a shop that does vehicle wraps and see if they would remove it.

Titan/Diamond Shield

This comes up fairly regularly. Here are older threads that include links to older threads.

Where did you take it to have it removed and was it costly?

Try 1-800-888-4888 and see if it’s still under warranty ! They will need your Vin # to get started ! I have had mine replaced twice now. Good luck !

So you’re on your third try with this stuff?
Maybe it’s not it’s all it’s supposed to be.

Is that phone number for both Titan Shield and Diamond Shield? Do you know whether they are the same or different companies?

I have the Dura shield ! The warranty person I worked with had a email listing of “Sharpline”, and the gentleman who performed the removal, and installation ( both times) was from Invinca-shield !

Was a pretty simple process both times. They needed purchase date, Vin #, photos of mold / mildew. Then sent out the gentleman to my house to do the work !

I had the work performed in 2019, the again last month (Dec).

Good luck !
