Satellite/TV Antenna Hookup

My 2015 Sunseeker 2800 has a roof mounted satellite and tv antenna. Two coaxial cables are located behind the living room tv. One from the satellite and one from the tv antenna. When camping in a lot of trees I have to use the tv antenna. It is a pain unscrewing one coaxial cable then screwing in the other. I have tried to use a A/B switch but it works fine for tv signals but the satellite signal does not produce a clear picture on the tv. There are a lot of waves in the picture. The satellite signal is great without the switch. I am interested in how other motorhome resolve this issue.

Your OTA antenna is connected to the coax input on the TV and the SAT receiver output is connected to the TV HDMI input no? Don't you just select the input on your TV and not mess with the cables? Is there not an HDMI interconnect between SAT receiver and TV?

That would be true but my DIRECTV satellite receiver D12 does not have a HDMI port. I can buy another model for $199.00 from DirectTV

There must be something wrong with your A/B switch.

If the satellite receiver shows a good picture when the coax is connected directly to your television, the output of the receiver is fine. The A/B switch does nothing more than select one input or the other. (to keep you from having to swap cables at the TV's input jack)

So... if you don't want to keep switching cables back and forth, find another A/B switch that works.

Did you switch the inputs on the AB switch to verify a good switch for both A & B selection?

Yes I did. After contacting DirecTV, they are sending me another receiver with HDMI for free.

Thanks for your comments

I get fuzzy reception from my cable if I forget to turn off the antenna booster. Wonder if that was the issue and antenna was interfering with satellite. Just curious.
