Screen for emergency window
I have a 2018 Forester 3051 and I love opening the emergency window for fresh air in the bedroom. But at times of course, we get bugs because there is no screen. I was watching Sharktank and saw a FlexScreen and I thought that would be perfect, because it’s comes in customs sizes and it’s bendable and easy to get in and out when I need to unlock or lock the hatch. Also if there is an emergency it comes right out. I invested in it and it’s probably one of my favorite modifications so far!

If the emergency window is on the rear wall of the motorhone, there is probably no screen because the window is not intended for ventilation usage. I seem to recall that there is a rule in RV manufacturing about rear wall windows, something about making them unusable for ventilation because of a potential for drawing in exhaust fumes while the vehicle is traveling. Obviously if you’re parked, it shouldn’t be a problem.

The exhaust is on the side of the coach by the coaches side door. So no problems with exhaust. And you are correct, the window wouldn’t be open if coach was running.

Hi! If you are going to order it, look at the directions how to measure the window on the Flexscreen website. I had to take in account that the red hatch lock was in the frame, so pay attention to that too. You can't return the screen. For 1 screen, it is expensive, but it is custom made to order and flexible, so I went ahead and tried it out. When it was delivered in the mail, I thought.. OH NO, I measured wrong because it looked perfectly square and my window isn't square... but when I put it in the window frame, it popped perfectly in there. I love it!

We are not in our motor home right now so I can’t measure or order it yet. You didn’t have to use the bumpers?
I might have to write you again before I order it. It’ll be worth it to get more air circulation. Our air conditioner works great but it’s so freaking loud.
Everything for a RV is expensive!!!

NVR,
How do you prop the window open to be able to use the screen? I agree, for one screen its an expensive solution. Sounds like maybe a few of us should have gotten together to order three and then split the cost. I believe the emergency window on a lot these models are the same type and dimensions.

I am going to post an older picture of our window in the next post (without the screen). I unlock the little red emergency handle and I pushed the window open. NOTE** the window took a bit of a push to open it the first time, but don't be aggressive, because you don't want to knock the whole window out since it would be easy to do that since it is an emergency window. I was actually a bit scared the first time I opened it, including the other coaches we owned. I will have the motorhome at my house around May 20 (it's in storage now) and I will take pictures of it with and without the screen. I need to go this Saturday too, but our RV is covered, so the pics might not turn out, but I will try. Also, when the window is open, I put a small tension rod (like a small curtain rod) between the seal of the window/against the window to hold it open. It works really well, even during windy days. Again, I will post more pics when I get the RV to my house around May 20.

I don't think I used the bumpers. I remember I just went to the window, put it into the little groove of the window and it popped right in, just like the video on the flexscreen video. Dang, I think I need to get commission from Flexscreen. LOL

This is full window with screen. The cover is on the RV, so you can’t see outside.

This is the small tension rod I prop the window open with. If it’s windy I use one on each side. Again, the cover is on the RV.

Isata rear window
I hesitate to prop open my Isata 4 rear wall emergency exit window until I understand what sort of hinge is attaching the lower window to the top widow. Anyone know?

I don’t have an Isata but I was pretty scared to open that window. I was afraid the entire glass would fall out.
Ours has hinges at the top and I use a piece of lathe to hold it open.

Emergency window
On the forester 3051 are there hinges on the Top edge of the window? Seems like if you push bottom out the window could fall out...

Sorry, forgot to post pics without Rv cover on. You can see the screen fits perfectly and we just prop the drape rod on the outside. It looks like the rod is against the screen, but it isn’t. It’s on the first metal ledge. It worked perfectly and we left the window open 24 hours a day.
