Skirt paint search
I'm looking for touchup paint for the lower skirt on my Forester. The bottle of touchup paint that came with my rig is dried up. I checked with Forest River and was told that the grey color on the skirt is Mercedes Benz #702 paint. I just spent $42 for a can of Mercedes spray paint - #702 - silver smoke - and it's not the right color. Fortunately the local Mercedes dealer took pity on me and refunded my entire purchase.
I've given up on getting the info from Forest River. I did find a label inside the kitchen cabinet that says "Paint & Graphics Solutions Inc. Sikkens Paint Code 353F2 Pewter" but when I Google that Sikkens paint code I can't find anything.
I managed to get a phone number for Paint & Graphics Solutions Inc. in Elkhart, Indiana and made contact with them. They were extremely helpful. They advised me that the paint was a custom color mixed for Forest River - that's why the Mercedes paint didn't match. The paint is Akzo Nobel paint #353F2-360.
They gave me the formula for mixing the paint - if I can find a Sikkens/Akzo Nobel paint dealer -
For those of you with standard Forester skirt paint I figured I'd share the wealth and give you what Paint & Graphics Solutions gave me.
The formula is as follows:
Q10RV - 100.4 grams
Q678 - .3 grams
Q140 - 5.6 grams
Q811J - 12.7 grams
Q160 - 14.9 grams
Q811P - 84.3 grams
The nice lady at Paint & Graphics told me this was the formula for a quart of paint but any Sikkens dealer would be able to mix larger or smaller quantities based on this formula.
