Slide topper is “floppy”?

We’ve had our MH for two years. The slide topper never seemed to flop around, but about 3 months ago we were in an incredible windstorm to where it sounded like a football team was trying to tear the slide toppernoff, so at 2:00 A.M., we sucked the slide in!

No problems after that but last night we had another pretty big rain/wind storm (NOT as big as the one a few months ago) and it really flopped around up there. We only have about a 7-10 mph wind going right now, but it still flops and makes more noise than “we” think it used to?

Can these slide toppers be tightened up at all?

Thank you!

I cannot give you specifics on how because you did not say what kind you have but they can be tightened up to a point. Too tight may cause slide extension issues.

Thx - I was wondering if it could be tightened and how hard/easy it might be - we’ll touch base with the local rv place when we get home!

In the mean time, slide an inflatable beach ball between the topper and the slide. Puts tension on the material and stops the flopping.

Floppy slideout topper

I have experienced this as well. We've been in lots of weather and ultimately the fabric stretched. I had to replace it. I was skeptical that this was the issue at first, but after talking to dometic, apparently it isn't as unusual at all.

There have been several posts on this subject before. It appears to be a common issue with toppers. I experienced it myself a couple of nights ago. It was so noisy I expected to find the toppers shredded when I checked Nope, they were fine. It appears to be more of an annoyance than a serious issue.

Make a "pyramid" using 3 pool noodles ... tape them together ... tape a rope to them (makes them easier to remove) ... slide the pool noodles between topper and slide ... works great ...
