Slide topper wear

I was on the roof of our 2017 Forester 3051 today. I noticed that there is a hole starting in the center of the slide topper due to rolling over a screw head when pulling in or opening the slide. Has this happened to anyone else? We have had the 3051 for approximately 16 months so no longer under warranty. Any suggestions? Thanks

Stuff happens. Put a patch over it before the hole gets any bigger.

Yes, I realize stuff happens. I was wondering what others used to patch the topper.

I've used this. It works really well and held for 2 years on my old camper.

Take photos and contact the appropriate person at Forester.
At 16 months they may still help you out.

Yes, it happened to our 2016 3051 at 11 months. Forest River covered replacing the awning fabric under warranty at that time. Then exactly the same awning damage was noted at 22 months. Since it was a recurring issue obviously caused by hardware, FR replaced the fabric and the Slide topper hardware. The roller assembly that supports the center of the awning was the problem.

Thanks for your response. That is exactly what it seems.
