There are some of you who might have a "hot-rod" wondering if you've run it on your solar? It's a pretty big load. 1600Wh.
Also, the other way might be to do passive solar on the roof. Pump cold water up and then allow the sun to heat the water and bring it down to the water heater -- at a minimum this means less energy to get the water up to 105F.
Also, you may not need the pump on other then initially. As the water goes into the passive system, it's pressure will get lower as it becomes hotter (extreme would be steam). The lowered pressure and the movement down should cause the higher pressure cold water to be sucked up.
Anyone tried (1) Solar via Hot Rodd or Electric Element (2) Passive solar.
