SS 3170DS Air Bag Questions

We have a 3170DS, which I understand has air bag adjustable shocks in the rear. How do you tell how much they are inflated and based on that measurement, what is the recommended pressure level to start out with? We'll be pulling a toad, does this play into a different level of pressure? Thanks for the education, it's appreciated.

You are going to get a lot of replies on this... I have had good luck running 70# in my 3011. Toad does not seem to put any additional weight on the rear. A lot will depend on how much weight you are carrying past the axle. Most will lose a couple of pounds every week so they should be checked often.

I keep our Lexi at 70 psi, but you can experment to see what gives you the best ride.
You need to get a good tire pressure gauge that will read over 100 psi.
Most bags are rated up to 100 psi. When filling using a compressor, be very careful and add air only a "blip" at a time. The bags are actually small, and it only takes a few seconds to completely fill a bag. 2-3 seconds can add quite a bit of air, so "blip" once or twice and recheck pressure, and add as needed to bring pressure up.

X2 on 70. Consider checking the lines for rub points. I had a leak in year one. Bought replacement line and fittings, and is now completly covered by flex (split rib) tubing....

X2 70# Worked really well for me. Greatly improved handling. You should have been shown the two Schrader fill valves in compartments behind rear wheels. A good electronic tire gauge makes checking pressures easier.

Thanks, I was shown the valves but never told the psi recommendations or procedure to adjust the bags.

Fyi they are not air shocks. They are air bags

Hoglou mine were covered with that from the factory and half covered with spray foam mine still leaked

Hey Hoglou where did you get line and fittings? I want to reroute the lines to be in one compartment and also not use the push in fittings

Tip when filling the bags, set the regulator on your compressor to the desired psi. When the air stops flowing into the bags the pressure will be exactly where you want it. No "blipping" required. Lol
