Stabilization Scissor Jacks
I have two scissor jacks bolted to the rear chassis a few feet behind the tires. They are a huge pain in the ***** to operate as I have to crawl under the rig to get the drill on the hex bolt. I can't be the only one that has to do this and can't be the only one that thinks it sucks. Any ideas out there for stabilization, operating these existing jacks? I'm not interested in an auto/powered system right now.

Weld a pipe extension on the socket with a shaft in the end OR just buy a long extension and cut the ratchet end off of it.

Holy crap, I was *JUST* looking into that. Found this 4 ft Extension for Soil Augers, Carbon Steel
So if you get it mounted correctly you can just bend over a little hook the drill up to the shaft that is sticking out under the rear bumper and buzz them up and down?

yes, that should work, but do you need a 4foot extension? sounds a little long to me.

I'm going to measure tonight but I suspect you're correct. I probably should weld but might try stainless brackets.

You mentioned that you had 2 scissor jacks. You may already know this but you probably have one behind the front bumper as well. I didn't realize it until I did my first oil change! If you think the rear jacks are hard to access wait until you try this one.

Are they bolted on?
If so what would happen if you turned them 1/4 turn so the hex bolt faces the side?

Yes they help a little bit. I was actually thinking about buying the big foot (hydraulic) setup until I went to my dealer and asked them to give me a demo on them with a class c they had in stock. It was not that much better than the scissor jacks as far as sway and movement goes.

I think they do, wife said they don't. I've never been in a RV with Bigfoot so not sure what to expect. My father in law had a TT with 4 scissor jacks on each corner and every time someone got in and out I thought I was going to roll out of bed. TT's would benefit from a 'stair saver' a lot more than an RV would, IMO.

Second that, I asked my dealer about it and he said not to waste my money on a bigfoot system. The benefits of the stabilization are not even close to what you pay for them.

You may just want the proper sized extension for sockets and a drill adapter so it will serve more uses. I have Bigfoot and wouldnt have any other beats stabilizers hands down

Don't get me wrong, if I was getting a new unit I'd almost require that it have them. But I think it's hard to justify spending $3500 for Bigfoot on a used rig.

2012 2300 does not have scissor jacks, but I have never felt the need for them. Very little movement (2 adults), except when getting in or out of bed.

I added Bigfoot a month after purchasing 2014 2860. I drove to the manufacturer in michigan. Cost was just under 4000. I agree you still get sway but is something I wouldn't live without. Park, press 1 button and ready to go
