Starting Generator in the morning?
We just spent 10 days in our 2015 Forester 3051s and each morning we had to start our engine so we could start our generator, no issues with starting generator in afternoon or evening. We called dealership and serviceman said it was due to cold weather, REALLY????

There are medical things you can take to start your generator in the morning
It might have to do with prime on the gas feed. As the say gets warmer and the gas expands and it then primes the pump. I would think a cold start at the dealer would show the same thing.

The generator starts using the house battery, so makes me think the house battery is draining overnight. When you crank the coach engine it charges the house battery thus the generator cranks.
Check the house battery(s), that may be the issue. I don't know where you are and how cold it is but yes, cold temps will reduce the cranking amps.

Does the generator crank with the stater but not start or does it not even crank?
If you are using your heater all night, you are likely running down the house battery.
What is the house battery voltage in the morning?

usually between 11 and 13, only need to run RV engine about 1 minute to get generator started, last morning the house battery was 12.4 but no generator, ran RV engine for 1 min and again the gen started instantly

If your rig has an emergency start feature you could actuate that switch to start the genny. If the genny charges both chassis and coach batteries no issues.

Actually, running the engine is equivalent to hitting the emergency start switch, since once the BCC sees more than 12.4 volts it connects the house to the chassis battery for charging, which is what an emergency start switch does anyway.

That goes without saying but I thought the OP was complaining about having to start the engine and this would be a work around. Oh well.

If you still have the original battery you may want to replace it with two higher capacity batteries.

Low house battery. I just recently added a plug and play 200 amp lithium battery and i love it! If interested, ill tell you where i got it. Faster charge, less weight and at least 10 yr life. Compact size.

to dpelpez: would you share the details about the lithium battery? is it a drop in replacement? did you have to change the converter / charger to one designed for lithium?

100Ah 12V Battle Born batteries are $900. I would give them a few years on the market before I plunked down that much money for them.
