Stress crack....

Just noticed that I have a stress crack on my 2017 3170DS. We just got back from a 2 month long trip and I have an appointment on the 26th to do some other warranty work. Hoping they will fix this too. Have seen others with the same issue but never heard if FR fixed the problem.Click image for larger version

Its because they bounce down the road. Out sides are gelcoat. Outide of Corvettes are jelcoat and they get some if they are used a lot. Nature of the beast if you want to cut down on weight for other accessories on board. Happened to mine and it was fixed. All fine till it happens again some place else.

I dunno about motorhomes, but in the world of fifth wheels, a crack radiating out from the corner of a slide out means structural issues whether it be the frame or the sidewall. There's numerous discussions about similar cracks on several websites. In the end, all involved frame or sidewall issues. Just trying to fix the crack itself usually fails before you get your rig back home from the repair. Some have drilled a small hole at the end of the crack to stop its advance as a temporary fix.

Had small cracks at the top the factory fixed. Had one at the bottom, same area as yours but bigger. They found a bad weld. Fixed that and made a patch over the repair. Took about a week to fix and has no returned. All looks good so far. Has been a year and a half and several long trips since.

Stress crack....

The one above is not mine, but my almost 4 year old 2690s, with 40,000 miles is developing one
Have had flooring issues earlier (with a bolt backing out), leads me to thinking the whole frame has been flexing, and related.

Welcome to the 3170 slide crack club. I have a 2014 and a crack. As I was just out of warranty, I took a wait and see approach. LOL, my crack has run down to the seam but has not opened up any larger. LMAO. Four years on the crack, so far, so good. I check it often. I would recommend getting it repaired if under warranty and /or drilling a small hole at the bottom of the, uhh umm, crack to maybe stop the run until repaired.
Search this forum. It has been discussed.
