Our 2011 3170 came with a porcelain toilet.

Have they really gone back to the plastic stuff?

Yes, they went back in the 2017 line up. I asked why and was told it was for weight saving reasons. I'm pretty sure that meant the weight of the money in FR's pocket...

I had a 310, with the fancy seat / lid installed before the PDI on our TS.

I realize a porcelain toilet may not be a critical issue for a purchase but I was 'excited' that mine has one. I am surprised FR is going the plastic route in a MH. I'd hate to think you would have to swap it out on your own to enjoy the upgrade more! My MH was a floor model at a show and the 3 Jensen TVs were already installed. The sound system was also Jensen. The TVs were nothing special and the front one gave up the ghost more than a year ago at which time I upgraded to a larger and higher resolution one for not too much.

I have experienced both porcelain and plastic thunder mugs and I can say in all honesty that I see absolutely no advantage to the highly coveted porcelain models. I'll take the plastic with its lower price and less weight anytime.

We prefer plastic. Lightens the load, works fine. Easy to replace if needed.
