Smile Sunseeker Motorhome Entry screened door

Just bought a 2009 Sunseeker Motorhome Model#2450CDS and it has no entry screen door attached. My question would be, Could a screen door taken from a 2009 Sunseeker Model# 2300CD be attached to my model # 2450CD? and would it fit my model. Both Sunseekers are 2009's.
Any info is much appreciated.

Try buying and using the "Magic Mesh" screen door. Works really well. It attaches with velcro. They sell these at Wal-Marts. I think you'll like it better then trying to find an expensive screen door.

It is less about motorhome model and more about measurement. The size range is relatively standard---so not too many odd ones out there.

Hi rgarner, Thanks for the info .... That was I figured as well but the RV dealer we are dealing with claims the available Sunseeker that has a screen door on it won't fit on our Sunseeker. We even took measurements and they still deny. They stuck us with a mesh door that doesn't work. I spoke also to Forest River and they said taking the screen door from their other Sunkeeker this dealer has and attaching it to our's will def work. I'm starting to think perhaps this RV dealer wants to take the cheap way out.

You spoke with me on the Facebook page but I didn't realize you had a CD unit. That door was custom built with that sliding screen (their idea not mine) which was getting popular in Europe. It's not that your screen door is missing. It never had one. If it had one and was taken off...easy to replace. That was a new Phillips door with the sliding screen instead of the hinged screen door. Phillips is no longer in business.

They're not taking the cheap way out...I'm pretty sure they worked a long time trying to find a traditional screen door that would work. Pretty sure they couldn't find one. I'll talk to their fleet guy and see what solution they came up with. We only ran those doors one model year for them.

Thank you for the reply bclemens. Yes it did originally have one because you can see where there used to be holes for the hinges except I only can see 2 old hinge holes..1 at the top and the other at the bottom.

Were you able to find out if they have made a screen door to fit this unit?
I was told a new one would cost $3,200.00 (complete entry doorand frame) which I believe is completely over priced. There should be a cheaper way around this. We have tried the Magic Mesh and it doesn't work well. It was installed by the RV dealer and was tucked behind the actual frame and doesn't close all the way.

anything you can find out would be greatly appreciated
our entry measures 24x78 roughly

Thank you

It had a screen...but it was a sliding screen door from Phillips. Not a traditional one. $3200 is a ridiculous price. That has to be a mis-print. You can find an RV replacement door online for under $500.

I'd recommend checking out Elkhart RV surplus or something like that. The door simple screws in from the front. The key is finding the right size that will fit your rough opening without needing to modify the aluminum RV frame (maybe that's what they were including in the price).

Take the door out, get some dimensions of the R.O.

Looks like you can custom order based on rough opening

It was the RV dealer we dealt with who gave the quote of $3,200.00.. Apparantly it was for the entire door assembly, shipping, taxes and instalation. Still seems a bit over the edge. The RV dealer spoke to Forrest River and was told a complete door would have to go in, but our actual sales rep told us it definately doesn't cost that much and made a suggestion to perhaps have another RV DEaler replace it for a cheaper rate, or take the task on ourselves.

I just took a peek at the quote given and it shows the complete door assembly totals $1,500.00. With shipping, taxes and instalation we are looking at $3,200.00. Does the entire door assembly actually cost $1,500.00 ?
Thanks again

It's a simple process. The door is all in one...screen, hinges, everything. All you do is pull the old door, slap the new one in.

There is a plastic "screw cap". Take that off and the screws into the face of the door are exposed. Nothing fancy to it.

I did some research and found out the door can be ordered for around $400 and installed for around $200. I'm not quite sure why this dealer quoted me the $3200.
Thank you for the advice. Perhaps I'll end up giving it a go on my own, specially if it's that easy. I will contact the dealer with the numbers I came up with and see if they will move on this and get one ordered, or at least pay for it since they promised me a door upon purchasing the unit from them in the first place.

LBD, I am new to forum, and wondering where did you find this door with screen? I am in the same bind with my 2300cd and can't seem to track down a screen anywhere. Did you or anyone else have any luck finding a philips screen for this without replacing the actual door?

bclemens, do you have any Idea about the sliding screen door on my unit? I'm scratching my head trying to find one, or even an alternative, but seems no one has an answer.

It appears to have had some sort of track in the lower part of the door at some point, potentially provisioned for a sliding screen... however nothing on there now... Thanks for clarifying the CD on the 2300

Phillips used to build that and they went out of business. To my knowledge, no one builds that.

2009 sunseeker motorhome missing sliding screen door where can I find one

Thank you bclemens.

So basically my only other option is to replace the entire door in order to get a screen to work?

If so, would you know where I can buy a radius one that would fit this? I seem to be having trouble tracking down a site that carries dimensions that will work for this.

Thanks

Correct. Either that, or my suggestion would be to get that screen with the magets "as seen on TV". Attach it to the inside over the entire door.
