Sunseeker Roof Maintenance

Want to get some thoughts on the type of roof maintenance that I should do for our new to us 2013 2860DS. Haven't been up on the roof yet, want to make sure I do adequate maintenance. Thanks.

Check the condition of all the caulk
Around the vents, (remove vent toppers if you got them)sky light,TV antenna,front cap rear cap etc.
It will be dirty but is it cracked or chipped? Sag and shrink at screw points?
Clean with mineral spirits and rags I used a thick "green environmentally safe mineral spirit I got at Lowe's
It worked great with minimal effort
I bought a big bag of cheep rags.They will tell you it doesn't have to be perfect (soap and water) but I'm fussy and clean old surface and the New will bond nicely
Apply Dicor self leveling caulk (tubes with a gun)on top of old to create a new layer
It won't look as pretty as it used to but year after year you apply,it builds up and it's just not possible to look pretty
Watch you tube videos and you will get the idea
I just redid the 2014 in Nov at end of our season
I redid my first older used unit also after bring it home (it was really bad)
It's not hard just takes a little time
I recommend watching videos for inspiration

Last year, I bought the last 2 gallons of "real" mineral spirits in my town.

And yes- best stuff for solvent based caulking cleaning and prep.
Stores were stopped from ordering more in Calif.
Now I guess they have the new "environmentally safe" stuff.
I still have a gallon and a half left.
I use it for everything.

Just figured I would have to buy the "real' stuff in Az and be an outlaw.

Makes dirty old caulking on seams of RV's look new again.
I did my entire trailer prior to selling it and it looked great after 14 years.

Copngrats. I have a 2014 model and have taped the seams, replaced the vent covers and put in a better bathroom fan. Here are videos I have done of the work.

Thanks everybody. We had a Gulfstream Conquest 30BHS travel trailer for about 12 years, decided to make the move to a Class C to continue our love of camping, and also to bring to tailgates up at Penn State. Really looking forward to our first trip as soon as the weather warms up a bit.

This is where I rub it in a little.
Since we put up with all the crappy parts of So California, we can gloat about the weather this time of year.
Off to the low dezert this weekend for some duning in the Rzr in mid to upper 60 degree weather.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that knowledge via those videos gmacklem (Greg). I will have to get up on my 2012 Sunseeker 2250 this spring and see if it will make sense for me to do similar. I do appreciate the value of preventative measures and seeing how one has done it is very valuable to a newb like me.

I also meant to ask if you know what the roof is on a 2012 Sunseeker 2250 LES. We bought it used with no owners manuals. I have seen many comments about maintenance differences between rubber, TPO, EPDM etc. and I don't want to screw ours up! I think ours is fiberglass but can't find anything from FR on the 2012 2250. Its not even in the brochure for that year. It shows up in 2013 but on a Ford chassis and ours is on a Chevy.

It is a fiberglass roof. Really no maintenance except for the seams.
Check for cracks and keep it clean.
Same box on the Ford or Chevy, Sunseeker or Forester.
Only difference may be a front fiberglass one piece cap which the 2012 and 2013 did not have I believe as an option.
That is a special order even on my 2016.

The 2013 brochure indicates a fiberglass roof. Still have not gotten up on ours.
