Sunseeker Shore Power Entry

I have a question (one of many to come) about my recently acquired 2007 Sunseeker 3100SS.

The shore power cable is in the rear pass-through storage compartment but neither compartment door has a cutout to allow closing the door with the cord going outside. Am I missing something? Hard to believe the previous owners would have gone 10 years with leaving the compartment door ajar.

The Electrical Cable Hatch available from Camping World requires a 2 1/2" hole and wouldn't work very well.

This MH came with no manuals so RTFM isn't an option.

Welcome Dan,

I don't have the same model Sunseeker as you, but this is the power pass through that is in the floor of my power cord storage bay. Hope this helps!

Thanks. That might work. I sort of did a quick version of that plate by just removing the screw in cover on the bottom of the compartment.

We had a pass-through port in the sidewall of our 2250; the cord was coiled up in the large compartment which made it a hassle dealing with when storing other items.

This was one of my first projects: I replaced the pass-through with a Marinco weathertight port:

We also purchased a 30A to 15A pigtail for the times when we aren't pulling anywhere near 15 amps, such as when the Sunseeker is setting in the barn:

Now all the power cords including the pigtail can be stored in a box (I used an old power tool storage box), then only what needs to be used can be easily pulled & plugged in.

I just took a 3" thick piece of foam and made a plug for the hole in the floor when the cord is passed throw. This keeps any critters from getting in.

Yeah, from my experience brucemc has presented the best solution. This eliminates lots of hassle and aggravation.

Do you have a automatic transfer switch or do you have to plug the cord into the generator outlet to run on generator? This would make a diff if you wanted to install a twist lock shore power outlet.

I added a Progressive Dynamics ATS at the same time I installed the Marinco bulkhead connector. The default (non-energized) position is shore power; even with the shore power plugged in, the ATS switches to generator power a few moments after the genny has been started.

This is the ATS I installed - $71 on our favorite online shopping site:

I can see me adding an ATS and a weather tight power port as soon as the Oregon weather relents and lets me work outside for more than a few minutes before it starts raining again.

You are a true Oregonian when you can walk & work between the raindrops. I've been in this state coming up on 50 years, but I guess I'm not quite a true Oregonian.

I like having a shelter - we have a decent barn that houses both our Sunseeker and the unit we used to have, which now belongs to a friend. Ford & Chevy, they set & face each other all winter long.
