My research has determined they are mirrors of each other. I'd caution you to closely examine and research both of them before buying

Forester VS Sunseeker

  • Glass Covered LED lighting VS Push Button LED lighting
  • Solid Surface Coutner tops VS pressed Counter tops
  • Hidden Hinges VS Visible Hinges
  • Cedar Backed Closets VS Décor Board
  • Standard Skirt Paint VS White Fiberglass with graphics
  • Fiberglass Running Boards (Standard) VS Aluminum running boards
  • LED floor lighting
  • Forester has an upgraded Maxx Air fann
  • Soft Touch Vinyl Ceilings VS Hard Touch
I have a 2015 Sunseeker 3170ds and love it. I too looked at the Forester and wanted several of the features it had such as the fiberglass running boards and the painted skirt. Was surprised when my dealer said I could order it. Love the way it looks!

Can't really comment as I have never set foot in a Forester but, we love our 2014 3170 DSF. Always look forward to my next upgrade.

The forester also has that electric control panel which brings the price up because you can use your phone to turn things on.

It is basically an IPad that replaces the original control panel in the coach. From talking to the sales man at forest river, he said they have been in the bigger 27th for a while. I wanted to know if they had problems with them. You connect it to your phone. The panel turns on all of your lights at once. You can however go in and turn on one at a time. It is a couple of steps to do that. You turn on your hot water heater etc. With this one panel. Of the electric panel should not work, you would need to replace the whole panel. The dealer showed me a panel similar to the one in the forester and said if you need a new one, pop it out of the wall unplug it we'll get you a new one and just plug that in. If the whole panel, breaks, you would need to use the bypass on your generator, awning( if it's electric) slides of your coach has them, etc..This panel is not on the sunseeker only the forester. There is a lot more information on the forest river forum. I hoped this helped some.

That's interesting that you were able to order the skirt paint for your Sunseeker. When we were considering ordering a Sunseeker through RVOne, we were told they would not do that.

You can no longer order items for a Sunseeker that are on a Forester. Over the last couple of years we have become more strict on this issue to create product separation.

Looked at both, the Sunseeker and Forester. Went with the Sunseeker because of the closer dealer and really couldn't justify the extra $5k difference. I don't like the fiberglass running boards and the soft touch ceiling is.... Why would I touch the ceiling? 😁

To push it back up when the glue fails? We had the "soft touch" in our MBS and I wasn't particularly impressed. There was a small tear in it when the MBS was delivered. The options to fix it included either stripping it out or having a local car detail shop try doing a vinyl repair. Fortunately that shop was very good and hid the repair well.

The new Foresters no longer come with the soft touch ceiling so the Sunseeker and Forester are the same in that respect.

I have a 2016 Forester 3051 and I love it. When I went to look for a new Class C at the Campers World in Lakewood NJ, all they had on hand were the Freedom Elites, Minnie Winnies and Foresters. As I am a tall, big man I had to make sure that when the slides were closed I would be comfortable behind the wheel and the 3051 fit the bill. In the 14 months I have owned it I already 12000 miles on it.
