Tow bars

I have a Sunseeker 3100SS and have been researching tow bars. The further I look the more confused I get.

The $ range is quite vast from $200 on up to the more sophisticated Blue Ox, Roadmaster etc.

My use would be very occasional. I plan on towing a 2006 Jeep Commander.

Any thoughts, tips experiences appreciated.

You get what you pay for. Your Jeep is an investment and holds value.
There are something's you just do not scrimp on. Get the best you can afford.

Roadmaster is our preference. Just sold our Falcon All Terrain on the FR classifieds. $800 new, but then you gotta buy base plate, wiring and diodes. I think I was out between $1000-1200 total and installed myself. Worth it though.

I have a Blue-Ox tow bar with a 10,000 lb capacity. It has now been used on three Motor-homes. I also use a SMI braking system to communicate and operate the brakes on my toad. My toad has both the Air Force One and the Stay-In-Play-DUO system. The reason my second Coach had air brakes but my current Class "C" uses electric for brake communication. The complete system will cost several thousand dollars installed.

Remember the tow bar/base plate is only half of the system and the braking equipment is the other half.
