Tow package for tow behind Jeep

I recently purchased a Forester 2861DS and want to tow my Jeep behind! Any recommendations on best route to go? Tow bar, tow sled, trailer?

What type of Jeep do you have? This will dictate how you will tow it. Let us know the year, model, and feature set of your Jeep and we can help

Also need to know year of Jeep. Most newer Jeeps either have to be flat towed or trailered, no tow dolly.

You will be towing 4-down. Our particular favorite is Blue Ox but others Swear by Roadmaster & Others. We like Blue Ox because we think their rock guard is superior to Roadmaster's

Bama Bob very informative information. Do you think you could get me the same info for my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4? I would sure appreciate it. Upon reading about the problems towing Jeeps we have been renting a car but it sure would be handy to tow one.

Since the Jeep was new we hated to damage it and for the cost you can rent a lot of cars. The newness is kind of wearing off, sure wish it didn't cost so much.

As far as damaging your Jeep, how so? As long as you have the Active Drive II, the only thing you would have to be concerned about is the so-called Death Wobble, which is fixed by a dealer installed wiring harness.

Look in your owner's manual under "Dinghy Towing," it will tell you how it can be towed, or not. ,4 down is the least complicated, imo, no extra trailer to contend with. Happy Trails.

I would recomend an SMI tow brake. Once installed, connect the tow bar, plug in the cable between the two vehicles, flip the switch and go

X2 we have the SMI AirForce One and it is one connector & go. I believe that SMI makes a braking system for non-air coaches as well.
