Towing a toad

We are looking at a 2005 Mini cooper manual transmission, has anyone had any experience with this type of car as to whether it can be towed?

Send a message via Yahoo to bob caldwell
Might get a faster response calling a mini dealer

I tow my manual 2011 Mini Cooper behind my Camper with no problems. Car doesn't have a locking steering wheel so easy to tow. I installed a Blue Ox baseplate myself and use Blue Ox towbar. Don't even know it's back there. Click image for larger version

Just put a bike rack on the Mini too so we can take the bikes with us away from the campground.

Type into google the year of the car and dinghy Guide. (2016 dinghy guide) I believe it is published by Edmond's dinghy guide. Good info I ended up with a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk. It's a factory compact SUV rock crawler trail tested for me!! and mamas everyday driver. She wont let me take it rock crawling yet, Maybe after its first scratch?

I checked the 2005 MotorHome dingy towing guide located here, and a few other years. Didn't see any Mini's but this towing guide is NOT 100% accurate.

I may be wrong, But I believe most front wheel drive vehicles with a manual transmission can be flat towed. But you need to contact the manufacturer to be sure. Also most owners manuals will explain weather or not they can be flat towed and what needs to be done for flat towing or otherwise, like setting the ignition in the Acc. position to unlock steering etc. It is very important to understand what need to be done to tow any vehicle because many have very spacific things that must be done to do it safely and not to damage your vehicle.

I hv been towing a manual
05 Mini Conv for the past 3 years, blue ox 4 wheels down. Non invasive front bracket professionally installed. Great toad, with electronic odometer so no tow mileage registers.

Check these out

They do not have all vehicles in them but I have found them to be good guides.
