Upper bunk weight limit?

Wondering what the weight limit is on the bunk over the cab in our 2011 Sunseeker 2300

Not sure but I once read somewhere the limit was 300#.

We assumed about 350# ... considering two adults .. close to 400# total sleeping up there... Would we be risking damaging the overhang??

Sure wish there was a specific guideline posted in the coach or in the manual so that we could make a more informed decision based on the construction/integrity of our particular unit!

I also have a 2300 and asked that question some time ago. I forgot the exact number, but it was NOT enough for two adults. I agree, the capacity should be indicated somewhere on the bed itself.

I'm pretty bummed that we have no space in our 2300 for my son and wife to sleep together without giving up our main queen bed. My husband and I could actually sleep in the bunk if the weight limit is 350#... But my son and his wife together would exceed by about 50#. The dinette area bed is too short for my son.... Barely long enough for me!
We won't be sharing space in our travels very often but it would be nice to have the option. Guess I just assumed that the space was roomy enough for two adults, so should be adequate to accommodate them.

Here is the quote from bclemens when I asked some time ago.

I personally would be afraid to exceed the 300lbs. I can just imagine the cost if something cracked up there due to excessive weight.

Yes, the "official" rating is 300 lbs. Here's the thing. That is a one piece side wall. We use 1 1/2" aluminum tubing to frame the wall (most of our competitors use 1"). We then laminate fiberglass (exterior), Azdel Composite (under that) and Vinyl covered lauan (on the inside of the wall). That is all glued together and vacuum laminated. The bottom would fall out before the side cracks...at least then you land on the roof of the cab.

I think the bottom falling out is what most of us are concerned about :>)

As long as your not bouncing around up there, an extra 50 lbs is not going to harm it...but we have to pick a weight at some point. 300 was the lucky number.
