The OEM vent covers are junk and fall apart quickly! Just measure the size of the vent cover and verify what type of hinge it has - probably a round metal tube. Google "rv vent covers" and many different sellers will pop-up. I went with the ones made by CAMCO, much better quality, installing the new one takes about 5 minutes.

There are 2 different items talked about here! Vent Lids and Vent Covers! I would add/install a Vent Cover after replacement of the "Fragile" vent Lid! Youroo!!

As yooroo said, are you talking about replacing the actual lid?

vent

Yes i mean the vent lid that goes down over the opening and i will get a vent cover next to protect the lid from the elements . I have two on the roof and need to get two more to finish the job. Waiting for winter to slow down here in the north east part of the world . Hit a camping show so i do not pay full price oldnewguy

Well I'm sure FR can tell you the exact make of the vent but if you go on Amazon and search for 'universal RV vent lid' there are several available that claim to fit all brands of vents.

Replaced all my vent Covers...with UV resistant ones from etrailer. Trailer was a 2007, replaced all in 2009, sold the trailer in 2017 and they were still in great shape.

I went with the polycarbonate replacements on ours. Just happened to be at storage site one day and freak hail storm blew through.

Checking things before we left and bathroom floor was wet. Hail went right through the original covers.

Will be putting the covers over those this year but the polycarbonate should hold up better.

Just replaced all 3 of the vent lids on a 2016 3011, all 3 cracked and leaked at the same time, also installed 3 maxxair vent covers, Took about 2 hrs to do the job. Just remember to take all you need to top in one trip, unless you like going up and down off the roof.

The original covers aren't even worth throwing away. It is hard to believe that Forest River puts such junk on top to keep the rain out. Guess they don't mind people getting their RVs ruined from water intrusion???

I replaced all 3 vent lids with UV resistant ones when the originals were barely 3 years old. I was in the bathroom and looked up and could see light coming through a hole in the vent lid. Went on top and found all 3 were dry rotted, brittle and had small holes. I taped them up until I got home and got them replaced.

I think the OEM covers are Heng el-cheapo’s.

That what my unit used from the factory. A Hail storm took them out. I replaced them with fantastic fans that use polycarbonate impact resistant lids. Standard camco cover wouldn't fit over the hinge.
