Just returned from our 1st camping trip in our new Sunseeker 3010DS. Our next trip isn't for 3 weeks. My question is: How long can you leave the hot water tank full with water without having to drain it. For those 3 weeks the RV will be in storage. Thanks for any info.
If I am not going back out within a couple weeks I drain, not sure why maybe this will help with corrosion as years go by. Make sure your water heater is off ( Electric and or gas).

I always drain at the end of the trip. Opening the access door to drain reminds me to turn off the electric heating element if it was turned on. By the way - be careful draining HOT water (learning by experience)!!!

I drain mine when I winterize. Much may depend on the quality of your water source, and how often you use it. If I had odors with the water then I might drain it after use. But since the question is "how long can I", then it can be left in until winterization.

Same as JeffMcCheese. I fill it up at the beginning of the season and empty it at the end. I'd change my tune if I cracked it open and it tasted or smelled bad.

Opposite of rugged brown I drain mine after each use.
If I don't I get a sulfer smell.

My previous camper did smell of sulfur for a couple of years. But only on electric. Then it just stopped. Don't know why.
I drain my tank NEVER. As it sits in heated storage and I use it. I do pull the anode annual and glance at it but I've never had to replace one. Must be that Rocky Mountain Spring water.
