Water pump twitching
Hi, I have a 2015 3010DS with a Shurflo 4008-1001-E65 pump. Recently it has begun twitching. With no water running our leaking anywhere, it keeps briefly cycling. Not long enough to pump anything, just twitching like it's confused about the holding pressure. The pump is three years old. We do a lot of dry camping all summer so it's seem some hours, but still I would expect a longer life from it. This twitching just started about a week ago, that I noticed. Is the an adjustment on the pump or is it a goner.

Sounds like water leak or air leak somewhere. Someone else with experience with that issue will chime in soon.

How frequent is this noise?
I know you said no leaks but that is what this points to so I’d double check as much as possible, outdoor shower for instance. I’m trying to think if air in the system or something could cause this. Make sure the pressure relief valve in the hot water tank is not dripping.
I’m interested to see what the issue is.

If you don’t have a leak, you probably have a bad check valve that is allowing water on the pressure side of the pump to leak back through the pump and into the non-pressure side. This will cause a continuous cycle just as you described.

What he said. After two years we had the same thing with our water pump. NO leaks! It was the pump. Put a new one in an bingo, no more problems.

This may be obvious, but - a simple test - remove the output line from the pump and cap the pump’s output. If the “twitching” stops, you have a leak somewhere. If the pump still “twitches”, pump problem.
There is a lot of plumbing, much of it hidden, so leaks can be hard to see.

A new pump will often cure this problem but the problem is usually simple. Check valve leaks can be caused by a buildup of scale on the sealing surface allowing a slow leak back into the pump and in turn the water tank.
Removing the pump, removing the check valve, cleaning it's seating surface with a cloth (maybe a little vinegar too), then reassembling, will cure the issue.
If the pump works and the only issue is pressure loss when water is not being used, first clean the "wet end internals" or install a relatively inexpensive repair kit and check valve. No need to buy a new pump housing and motor like one does when they buy the whole pump. Repair kits are inexpensive enough they can be kept on hand for "emergency repairs". No special tools required, just a screwdriver and allen wrench if you adjust pressures.
All kinds of diagrams and youtube video's for servicing RV water pumps online. Just search by model number.

True but eventually one does see water dripping or pooling somewhere.

Our previous class C started out like that the same way....ultimately it developed into a full blown leak when I was using the shower and flooded the inside of our unit. I’m not saying this will happen to you but I would keep looking.

Try turning off the pump and run the water until there is no pressure ( flow). Then while faucet is still open turn on the pump and let it run for about 30 sec. If there is debris in the back flow valve, this may flush it out. No guarantee, but easy no cost try.

This is the best first thing to try.
