Water regulator

We have a 28-foot Sunseeker. When we hook up to city water we use a regulator that we attach to the spigot then we attach the hose that runs to our RV.
We usually don't get very good water pressure when we do that. We get better pressure when we use the fresh water tank and water pump.
Someone at the campground said it may be because our unit has a built-in regulator for city water connection and we are basically doubling up unnecessarily.
I looked through our manuals and couldn't find anything about an internal regulator.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

There isn't a built in water pressure regulator, unless someone added one after FR built your Sunseeker anyway. You are doing it the right way so it sounds like the campground may have low water pressure...

Either the campground has low pressure or your regulator is the problem. We have the best luck with a cheap 50psi high flow regulator.

as others have said connecting the way you do protects both your rig and your hose. I have had problems with the inexpensive non-adjustable reducing regulators and water flow. I went to the adjustable type regulator with a pressure gauge and have had much better luck with pressure and flow.

What I use, when I use one. Keep it in the drawer just in case.

Additionally, hope you are wipiing / spraying the spigot end off with a bleach solution prior to hooking up your water line... You never know where the last users hands were when they unhooked theirs.....

Could have been on their black water connection prior to....

Not sure where you are using your regulator but try using it as close to your rig as possible. Using the regulator at the city spigot before the hose can cause pressure issues, and the longer the hose the higher the possibility. I screw in my 90 elbow to the trailers city inlet then the regulator directly to the elbow.

Edit: reread your original post, saw you are connecting the regulator at the spigot.

X2

Keep the regulator at the spigot.

Probably not a bad idea, but I never have used a bleach solution for that.

We do it before and after using the spigot. And, yes, keep the regulator on the spigot end.

I keep a small squeeze bottle of bleach/water solution in the camper when I know we are considerring staying anywhere there is city water available and I fill my unit at Cabelas before a trip..I spray that spigot as well.

I have a gauge on our pressure regulator, but at one point I tried a Y adaptor and it greatly reduced throughput. Pressure was fine but you would turn on the shower and it was fine but would drop to half in seconds. I suggest you check your hoses and or connectors. My Y adaptor used a small ball valve that was restricting the flow so I removed it and solved my problem.

Good luck.

Jbmcbride, if you haven't already looked, some of these have a fine mesh screen that can get clogged.
