Weird issue with Jensen House stero/dvd

I was in the MH yesterday prepping to go to out on the road. 2018 2501TS has the Jensen "house" system. I was running the generator. Turned on the Jensen for music and it was dead.

Checked the other nearby 12 volt items and all were live. Went to the "fuse box" and pulled the fuse for the Stereo (#11) in my fuse box). The fuse tested good on my continuity tester.

When I reinserted the fuse (with a little sparking) the Jensen now was back on line with power. I am assuming I "rebooted" it.

Has anyone else seen this with their factory Jenson stereo? Next time I think I will first try the battery switch and see if that reboots it.

All's well that ends well, it is working fine now.

Opinions would be appreciated.

That’s interesting. When you say the Jensen came on line when you reset the fuse do you mean the normal clock display came on or the whole unit did. Normally if a system like that has power removed then when it’s restored one has to physically turn the unit back on by pushing the power button.

emm-dee, I should have said the normal date time came back on. I didn't check to see if my date and time need a full reset. I will have to check that. I had the normal resting screen display back on. It then powered up to the fm radio when I pushed the button.

emm-dee, any opinions or just wait and see if it happens again.

Only problem I had was after removing the Jensen to hook up the Bazooka sub woofer I didn’t do a very good job when reattaching the wiring module and it came loose, disabling the system. Pulled the chassis, reset the plug and it has performed flawlessly ever since.

I’d check for a loose connection. Pull the two vertical plastic covers on the face to access the four fasteners that hold it in place. While you’re in there you can use some tie wraps to neaten up the sloppy job FR does. And, if it’s there, you might find the One Control wireless router just laying around with nothing securing it. Fasten it down.

Some folks have bad things to say about the Jensen but I’ve been happy with it. I really like the way you can select HDMI on the display and have the television audio come out the overhead or outside speakers.

You actually taught me that tv setting about 6 months ago in another thread. For every thing you do, thank you brother.

Did you have to recharge your batteries? If your batteries went low during storage, the low voltage could have caused the processor in the stereo to lock up. Removing and reinserting the fuse may have rebooted the processor, as you stated.

I keep seeing posts about problems with Jensen units. The real point here is Jensen is a low quality, no customer service product that should shame Forest River for installing, but obviously it does not. I jerked mine out and installed a high end Pioneer.

Isn’t that sorta like replacing a Pinto with a Yugo?

You'll find Jensen units in many other RV brands, not just FR.
