I don’t own a Forester, but.......

Being that you mention it’s on a 2017 Forester, I’m guessing you’re not the original owner?
So......being a switch just to turn on a red light probably isn’t exciting enough.

I’m betting you’re going to be told by others it’s an aftermarket switch that was installed by the previous owner, so no one except that person that installed it is going to know.

Happy hunting.

We own a Sunseeker MBS which is pretty much the same rig. We do not have that switch! So no idea.

I was looking at the 2018 brochure of your rig and you can see the switch. Maybe part of the lane departure warning?
Whatever it is you should be able to find out because it’s not aftermarket

It could be for heated mirrors. We had one also on a Forester and had to ask.Although ours is not in that place. Ours is on the left by the door but the same type of switch.

Do you have lights outside on your cab over? If so, I think it turns them on. If you don't have the lights then I wouldn't know.

If you have the more streamlined "Trekker" front cap (no overhead bunk) that's the factory-installed switch that controls the pretty Cool LED edge lighting on the front cap. We call 'em the "Prong-horns" because they're oriented vertically at a slight outward angle. Even the dealer had a tough time initially figuring that out during our PDI walk-thru...

It turns on the white LED lights on the exterior front of the cab roof. Or it does on my rig. Good night lite when you leave the rig and walking back from the car or short walk in the camp ground.

Best Wishes
