what is this in the wall?

Inside the access port of the shower I found this black 3/16 tube running top to bottom. Almost like a vacuum line, too small for power.. what is it?

Too small for coax, and to soft. Did not squeeze it much in case it is a vent or vacuum...

Of the choices of 120v, 12v, water, coax it is none of these....

Top rear camera line maybe?

Coax SHOULD have writing on it.......RG59, RG6, something. Other types might also. Are there any numbers, etc., on it anywhere?

Get a mirror or stick you phone in the hole and take a pic, both up and down, and see if you can figure out where it goes, then go there and try to follow it until you come to something you recognize.

Does your shower have a removable heat duct vent (or the rectangle it would be in IF you had such a vent) that you can open and look under the shower to see where it might go?

I looked under the driver's dash. It is the same cable type as the rear camera....

Now I know. There is a lot of slack in the line but we do have a short coach.

A lot of times coax and other wires for accessories come with both ends "finished". Wire's fairly cheap so the people who make the accessories often make up wires for the maximum distance they expect them to run. Installers then just stuff the extra into a convenient void.

I just installed a Victron Battery Monitor and the "data cable" was about 10' longer than I needed. I just stuffed the extra into a void and secured the wires on both sides of my "storage point". Out of sight, out of mind.

Call me picky, but I like to install any wiring I do as if it was going into an aircraft. Yes, the cable that comes with the monitor is 10 metres long (about 33 ft.). But it is a standard RJ-12 telephone cable. You can find a supplier on Amazon who will provide a more convenient length.

The access port shown on the first post is a 6-1/2 inch dia threaded marine port. It is just below the water controls in the shower. A second one is on the bed platform to access the h/w valves. A third in the sewer bay. And soon to be a fourth in the rear overhead bed cabinet against the shower wall. We will explore that hole for the new rear air pwr line. Ama.on for 10$.

So you added these in convenient spots to access components you were installing or are using them to create a chase for wiring, plumbing etc. Great idea.

The first three are factory. The fourth is inbound from azo., and will install next week to explore pwr for the air cond. Easy to install just use the lid as a templete then screw in the retaining plate.

By "explore pwr for the air cond", do you mean you're exploring a way to run power to an additional roof AC? I was wondering how to do that if the addition becomes necessary for us.

WOW I thought I was an early riser. I am laying out my second air install over the bedroom.

1) I will pull the micro out and install an access port (like in the above pick, 10$ from amz) as far as possible towards the (back of the coach) towards over the frig in the ceiling.

2) From there I will make a channel in the foam for the wire to the pass side air distribution duct closest to the access port.

3) Feed about 6' of 12-2 uf from the access port to the vent (leaving the rest of the wire hang down thru the access port).

4) Next feed the wire to the last back air vent over the bed.

5) Drill a 3/4" hole, just below center line of the wood support on the pass side of the rear over head external vent.

6) Channel out the foam between 4 and 5.

7) Feed wire from rear vent to air cond opening.

8) Back to the frig drill a shallow 3/4" dia hole on the rear side of the access por on the ceiling. You have 3-1/2" to the roof.

9) Feed the wire hanging down from the access from the top of the ceiling to hang down from the new hole, add gromlet. You can close the access port as the wire now hangs down thur
the new small hole. Picking the ceiling thur hole location is the entire project.

10) For my coach I just feed the line over and down the frig side to under the bed and out the back next to the factory cord.

I did look at the shower access hole as a conduit but there is more working space over the micro, and the only wire you could see will be in the air channel for a few feet.

The only concern is the potential of rafters in steps 2 and 6.
