Winterizing

I have owned two pop ups. I winterized them myself.

I now own a '13 Sunseeker 3100. I would prefer to winterize it myself. I figure it's essentially the same steps as the pop ups but with some more stuff (hot water heater, an extra sink, toilet, shower, outside shower, gray tank, black tank).

In reading the manual, it's looks like there are 2 options:
- use compressed air
- don't use compressed air (this is what I did with the pop ups)

It looks like the compressed air option is far easier. It looks like I use antifreeze - but it doesn't go in the fresh tank or from there through the plumbling lines to the water taps. That seems like a huge advantage to me (not having antifreeze "before" the water taps). It's that much easier to flush out next spring.

However, here's the problem, I don't own an air compressor. In looking at Harbor Freight, I notice they have 2 that are cheaper:
- Pancake Air Compressor - 3 Gallon, 100 PSI
- 3 Gallon Air Compressor - 1/3 HP, 100 PSI, Oilless

I know nothing (& I mean zero, zip, zilch) about air compressors.

Would either of these work for that purpose?

I'm winterizing mine tomorrow. I'm going to use my work shop wet and dry vacume cleaner and blow air in all the water lines until no more water comes out of the low point drains under the RV, then the drains in shower,and sinks, and then add antifreeze to the drains.I will also bypass and empty the hot water tank and remove the water filter.

They both seem like they will work. Which ever one you use make sure you dial down the pressure to no more than the normal water pressure. 45-50 pounds. If you go over that you risk blowing water lines apart.

Doesn't sound like you use a compressor much so anyone of those will work as you only need about 40 psi to blow out the lines.

20 psi is more than sufficient to blow the lines out .

by a cheap adjustable regulator if they don't already have one and turn it to 20 psi.

How and where do you hook up the compressor?

You can get an adaptor that screws into your city water connection on your trailer. Check CW website.

So you hook up the adapter open up all drains, faucets, etc and let the air flow till it is clear?

Drain your hot water heater and low point drains first then hook the air up and open each faucet hot and cold until all the water is out of lines. Be sure and do toilet and outside shower if you have one. Pour a little RV antifreeze in the p-traps and down toilet into black tank.
