I appreciate that feature in my Tom-Tom! All too often, speed limits change from 65 to 55 on interstates, for no apparent reason, and if you are engaged in conversation, you may miss the sign... I've also found it to be very acciurate off of the interstates, where what appears to be a 45 MPH road is posted at 30 or 35, and vice versa....

I'm insured through Geico and since Sunseeker and them are in business together, did it send a message to them.? I hope not, because I love my low rates.
Even though Geico & Sunseeker are both Berkshire companies..we are separate divisions...there is not secret conspiracy between our GPS and their customer database.

BUT, now that I have forwarded them this post, be looking in the mail for your "new" rate.

Really, I was kidding about it telling my insurance company. But there was actual shock the 1st time I heard that thing interrupt my Radio. I agree, it is sort of like my Speed Limit sign turning red on my Garmin. I was also surprised that I had not seen any other comments on that little guy. Well, we are off for our 1st ever RV camper experience at Lambeau Field for a Packer tailgate party. Go Pack Go!!!

I have been "enjoying" this feature in my 2013 Sunseeker since October 2012. What amazes me is..... let's say the "normal" speed limit is 70, BUT..... we have CONSTRUCTION so speed limit is dropped to 45, well, BIG BROTHER picks this up! Each time I go through a construction zone, I purposely speed 2 mph over limit just to check. Each time, I get BIG BROTHER. Where is it getting this information? Do speed limit signs have transponders?

My dash mounted garmin has that but I was able turn the audio alert off. Now it shows my speed in black if below the limit and red if above the limit. But no talking.

The insurance companies ARE coming out with devices people can *voluntarily* install in their cars that DO send telemetry to a server. The deal is, if you install one, they will give you a lower rate as long as you do not speed (or whatever other stipulation(s) they make)
