Anyone boondocked in Mammoth Lakes (CA) area this year?

We're thinking of heading up to Mammoth Lakes area for 3-4 days of boondocking, hiking, and fishing. We've never been to the area for camping, but I know there's lots of dispersed camping up there, but I recently saw a couple comments on social media that there is still too much snow/roads are still too wet and muddy for boondocking??

Just wondering if anyone has gone up in the area recently. Our plans were boondocking for 3-4 days and finding a RV park for a couple of days to dump tanks and such before heading home. Any recommendations for boondocking spots would be appreciated as well! We have a 22 ft TT and a 2 wheel drive full sized pickup so we can handle some rougher roads but no 4x4ing in mud!!
Thank you!
