Thinking about Arizona for a month or so this winter. There are lots of choices.

Lots of folks like Mesa which is east of Phoenix and thousands use the many large resort available there. It fills up fast so you really need to decide ASAP cause they fill up fast.

Gilbert, Buckeye, Tucson and Yuma Arizona are other places the snowbirds hand out.

Personally I like Mesa as you are still around everything you may want in Phoenix. All the other ones including Yuma have limited restaurants and fun places to visit.

I'm sure others will add their ideas.
But one thing you must do is make reservation ASAP.

We spent a winter in Casa Grande, the town has everything you need and is only about 30 minutes from Chandler which is the outskirts of Phoenix.

There is no doubt you are going to have a hard time finding someplace with room for you for a month this close to snowbird season. It would be best to get out your RV park app and start looking very soon.

Chandler and Casa Grande are also popular. Actually, every RV park from Wilcox to Phoenix already has reservations for snowbirds who spend the entire winter season. So the best advice is make reservations asap

If you don’t like being around a big city check out Parker just south of Havasu City. Lots of RV parks, most are on the Colorado River. This was our back yard for several years in the winter.

I suspect with the border to the north closed, there will be openings in the Phoenix area RV parks. We are getting ready to spend our 8th winter in Casa Grande at Sundance1.

We spent a week there a few years ago. Great park but cell signal was surprisingly bad.

Verizon cell is spotty around the park. T-Mobile seems to work well for me where I am at.

My wife and I are going to Tucson to see family soon but we also want to go check out Payson where our daughter may be considering a move to. Doe's anybody have a recommendation for a good place to park our 23 DBH that's sort of central to this excursion?

there really is not a lot of rv options in payson. try the payson rv 'resort' that is on hiway 260. there are also 2 or 3 places just a couple of miles further east on hiway 260 in star valley, az. i would not call any of these places resorts. much of the cliental appears to be full time residents. the payson rv resort does cater to travelers as we see people coming and going all the time.

There are two ways to get to Payson from Tucson. One goes through Phoenix area, the other goes through Globe. Both are about midway between Tucson and Payson. Lots of choices on the Phoenix route (Casa Grande, Chandler, Mesa, Etc), not much on the Globe route.
I would just stay in Tucson (we like the Lazydays Koa) and make a side or day trip to Payson. It's about 3 hours from Tucson using the Phoenix route, closer to 4 hours going through Globe.
Have fun, lots to do and see in any of those areas!

Any Arizona resorts that cater to RV’s and are not 50% or more park models. We have been thinking about spending the month of January in Arizona, but have been turned off that most of the resorts are heavy with Park homes and less on RV’s?

Yes there are. We spend a couple months at Riverfront RV in Yuma and a month or 2 at Desert Trails in Tucson. No park models or mobile homes. There’s plenty of them out there, you just have to search a bit.

Southern Arizona has many smaller towns with RV parks. I would check those. I won't name them because they can be over run with snow birds.
