I love driving old 99. It takes longer with towns and more traffic, but this is the route that millions drove long before interstates passed America by.

Thanks again for all the replies, suggestions and trip tips! Feeling much more comfortable with the western portion of this adventure. Not taking our time getting out there, but plan to mosey on our way back home.

Well, we have been looking at trying to spend a little time visiting Yosemite and also Kings Canyon as we begin our way east. But seems that even in mid-October places to camp are hard to come by. Still checking around and will see what we can work out!
