The 7th Ranch RV park is just back down the road from Big Horn Battlefield and is a real nice place. https://www.historicwest.com/

Sheridan is still a ways down the line from the battlefield. The Hardin Mt. KOA isn't to bad either.

I grew up on a ranch 30 miles north of there, Hardin is my hometown.

I 2nd staying at 7th Ranch - great RV park, nice people and very close to the Battlefield.

If you particularly want to stay in Sheridan, here's where I stayed for a night: https://www.wyomingrvpark.com

Have a good trip!

We stayed at the Grandview RV park in Hardin, MT, when we visited the battlefield. Much closer than Sheridan, a little farther than 7th Ranch. Same price as 7th Ranch, but we liked visiting the Big Horn County History Museum in Hardin, so stayed in town.

If you do stay in Sheridan, be sure to have dinner at the Sheridan Inn. Buffalo Bill was once the proprietor of that hotel and lived there between Wild West Show tours.

We just finished a trip to Custer battlefield and Cody, 7th ranch was great. Pulling 21ds with Ram 1500 drove 2600 miles. We stopped for gas 21 times at a total of $837 dollars ( stopping at just below half) averaging just 9 mpg with tow haul on the complete trip. How can I improve on those numbers?.

Yep. With our Ram EcoDiesel we get 16-17 mpg pulling up hills.

Yes...a diesel is one option.

That's roughly $3 a mile, does seem high. I think I did better than that towing my 5th wheel on a 6500 mile round trip with my GMC 1500.

So some of it depends on speed and terrain. Looks like that camper is around 5k. What engine is in your ram? that could matter also.

Just glad you had fun.

This thread has drifted from the subject of Big Horn Battlefield. Let's go back to that subject for the OP.

I hope you enjoy your trip there. It is very interesting and you just might come away with a different understanding than what you've seen in the movies. Pick up a copy of one of the books there and read at the campground. Very interesting read.
