Border closed my “good” fortune
Our kids/grandkids made a last minute decision to drive from the LA area to here in the Inland Pacific Northwest. They were able to find a waterfront cabin available on Lake Pend Orielle in northern Idaho. This cabin is about a hour away from our house and they want us to come up and spend some time at the lake with them, particularly on July 4th.
Since we have a dog and the cabin they rented doesn't allow pets we thought we would bring our trailer up for a few days. Well as you can imagine getting a reservation for July 3rd and 4th this late normally would be impossible. I contacted an RV park located just a few miles from the cabin and of course they were booked. BUT, this area is only a few miles from the Canadian border and most of the reservations the park had were from Canadian customers. So they put my name on a list for cancellations just in case the border didn’t open in June as scheduled. Well with yesterday’s announcement of the border closing extending until Jul1 21st I received a call today and got a spot for the 4th.
I feel real bad for the people who had the reservations who now can’t use them and am considering myself very fortunate to be able to spend a few days with the grandkids at the lake.
