Car ferries in Alaska

Hi all
Has anybody taken their RV on the Alaska ferries recently?
We are interested in going from Haines to Prince Rupert, with stops in between.
Our issue is that we are traveling with a dog, who, as I understand it, must stay below decks in the RV.
Has anybody tried to stay in the RV with their dog, or know of someone who did?

We have done the ferry thing, When we traveled with our pets we were not allowed to stay in your RV with them while under way, They do let you go down and check on your pet every few hours.
