Coastal San Diego to Seattle

Want to take a fifth wheel 37 footer along the coast if possible from San Diego to Seattle. What time of year is that possible so we won't have mud slides or weather concerns. Is travel along the coastline safe for a 37 foot fifth wheel 12feet 9 inches tall. Would like a scenic route that is safe. Thanks

We have done the Seattle to San Diego coast route twice in the last three years and while some of the turns can be a little tight in CA, it is a great trip. We didn't have trouble either time. We took 101 from WA to the San Francisco area, and then Hwy 1 to Long Beach. We didn't do the Hwy 1 portion North of SF.

Your far better doing Seattle south. That way all the turnouts are on your right.
Best time of year? Early to mid fall. In other words middle of September on.
IMHO best route, I5 out of SeaTac to Longview,WA, cross the bridge to US30 west to Astoria. 101 in WA state is quite far inland so options for ocean views are limited. In Oregon US101 is generally much closer to the ocean.

Just came back from a trip that included Bodega Bay. I'd stay away from that area with the trailer connected but make the trip for the day. The views are wonderful and the road is a great trip. Many of the roads we were on had a king pin to axle limit, usually 38(?) feet. We'll be going south in November.
