Craig CO to Rapid City SD Route Suggestions

The last week of July heading from Craig CO to Mt Rushmore SD. There will be 4 of us traveling the largest rig will be a 36'A with a Jeep in tow. What would be the best route. I am from MI and not used to mountain driving so would like the easiest way!
Thanks in advance.

To get out of Craig, just head north on 13 (which turns into 789 (I believe) in WY and take it to I-80 and head east.
Hwy 13 is nice and flat with very little if any curves. In fact, it is rather boring.

After you get on I-80 take that to I-25 north to hwy 20 east to Lusk Wy then take hwy 85 north to hwy 18 to Hot Springs, SD then Hwy 79 north to Rapid city or you can also go north to Custer SD and then to Mt Rushmore. All depends on where you stay. I highly recommend Rafter J. Beautiful campground and right in the middle of everything. All the roads I listed are very good mostly Two lane roads and not much in the way of mountains after you get on I-80 until you get into the Black Hills. I have been this way many times and easy drive.

Sturgis motorcycle rally is Aug 8-14 so there will be thousands of bikers in the area and on the roads. You might want to plan to be gone by then. Lodging is hard to find and prices are inflated.
