Desert Wildflowers Southern AZ

We are thinking about a trip to southern AZ next Spring. I know desert wildflowers can be hit or miss, but in general when is the best "window" for seeing flowers? We are looking at Picacho Peak and Catalina State park areas. Are there any other spots that are good viewing areas? Also, what kind of temperatures should we expect at that time?

Thanks and safe travels.

From the end of March on should be good for Az wildflowers this year. We have been getting good moisture with a forecast of El Nino bringing more winter rains. Every one here is saying this should be a good spring for the desert to bloom.

Thanks Blackrock,

We have booked sites at Picacho Peak, Catalina, and Kartchner Caverns State Parks. Last week in March and first two weeks in April. We have visited the area in the winter and seen pictures of the bloom in visitor centers. Have always wanted to see it first hand. Looks like 2016 will be our year!

Safe travels.

We spent 4 nights at Catalina SP this past April and loved it. Great park enjoy.
