East to West in 70
Headed to Utah in a few weeks. Taking 70 West through Colorado. Can you tell me the better route to Moab from 70; 128 or 191, pulling a 37’ travel trailer?

I would do 191. 128 looked scenic, but would probably take a half hour longer with more curves.

Hwy 128 is one of the best kept secrets of the Moab experience. Only thing is it can be narrow and winding in spots. There are plenty of pullouts for stops and photo ops.
If you are staying at an RV park downtown you come right out on 191 and turn left.

Yes, 191 is faster, but 128 is more scenic. It runs along the Colorado River through the John Wayne movie country (a lot of western films were shot there - like Rio Grande and Cheyenne Autumn) along with Monument Valley. Be sure to fuel up in Fruita, CO; it's a long way to Moab.

I agree with all of the above, take 191. But after you get camped, take a drive up 128 to Red Cliffs lodge along the Colorado River. They have a museum about all the great movies made there, beautiful drive, look it up.
Also if you aren't used to it, you start climbing all the way across Kansas, so your fuel mileage will be bad. After Denver I70 will get up to about 13000 ft so take your time.
After Estes pass, it's down hill and the best is yet to come.
When you get to Glenwood canyon, it's one the the most beautiful drives on any Interstate Highway in the US. You have I70, the Colorado River, and the Railroad all winding through a 30 mile area with plenty of pull offs and rest stops. Plan on taking the time to enjoy that before you get to the Utah desert.

Thanks so much for the extra info. Thinking 191 is the way to go, but we love museums and scenic byways so we will be sure to take a drive on 128 without the travel trailer. Thanks for the tips on I70. Leaving Moab to Bryce and then Bryce to Zion. That Utah 9 tunnel from Bryce to Zion doesn’t look friendly for a 37’ travel trailer w/pick up. Thinking of back tracking to Utah 20 to 15 and down to Springdale or going to 389 to 59. Any thoughts on that?

Others may be able to help you with those routes regarding towing. After Moab, we took I70 to I15 and camped in Cedar City for 5 nights and then took excursions to Bryce and Zion from there not towing.
I wouldn't tow to Zion though unless you are camping near there. The parking and traffic to get into the park is very congested. You have to take shuttles into the park so everyone scrambles to find parking around there near shuttle stops.

I guess a lot depends on your final destination after seeing Bryce and Zion. Bryce Canyon and Zion are fairly close together and depending on where you want to tie down for a day or two can easily be seen from the Hwy89 side.
The Zion tunnel is best done without a trailer because of a lot of photo op pullouts. Drive through east to west, park and catch a shuttle up the side canyon then return to your vehicle and drive back out the way you came in. It will make for a long day and your neck will be sore from whiplash looking up at all the scenery.

After Bryce, you can cut across the 14 to cedar City. Still get some good views, but less stress than going through the tunnel.

East to West in 70
I would not recommend towing down RT 14. It is a steep curvy drop down from 10,000 ft to 6,000 ft. The southern route 389 to 59 is low stress.

Thank you, the Mountain West book doesn’t recommend 14 for semi trucks so I assumed RVers were off limits too. Utah 20 maybe an option (?), but I think we will stick with the less stressful option 389/59.
