First TT Trip Ever, wish me luck at the Oregon Coast!
We just bought a Cherokee 264L at the RV show. I have spent the last two weeks learning, preparing, upgrading and practicing. I have hitched up and driven every day. We took a drive over a small pass in a small storm to make sure my TV would hold up. I had no issues but added a sway control arm and readjusted the hitch and bars so I am riding level fully loaded.
We are only going 150 miles so this will be a good ice breaker. We are going to use an RV park to get started so we have access to supplies, propane and internet until we understand how fast we will use our fuel and water in 35 degree weather.
Doing two days in Astoria and two days in Lincoln City, Oregon. We will let you know how it goes.
Regards,
The Crappy Hampers, I mean Happy Campers!

Good luck and have fun. Be patient and take your time. Double check and the check again when setting up and breaking down. Have another set of eyes to check also. You can do it!

A few suggestions:
While at home in a nice dry warm place, write out your set up and break down process step by step. This may prevent a mistake if you end up setting up in the rain or after dark. It will not go to waste as it is a plus when it comes time to sell and upgrade. After a few trips you will not need it.
Make sure to take an pen and note pad to make a " We need to get this list"
Most importantly have fun that's why you bought it.

Enjoy the coast!! We are heading out tomorrow for Ft Stevens State Park just outside of Astoria! Spending the week through Christmas. It's beautiful, and you should enjoy your time.
Have fun!!

First trip
We use a small electric space heater to conserve fuel, just turn it off when you need to use another appliance to keep from tripping a breaker. Hope you enjoy

Have fun.....don't panic when you see Highway 101 between Astoria and Lincoln City. Just go slow, especially north of Tillamook. We spent the summber in Gold Beach south of where you're going and we loved Turtle Rock RV Park there. A great couple run that park if you're looking for a place to rest for a night or so.

Hi, I recently spent 4 wks. camping in Oregon. A suggestion; I found a lot of campsites to be very muddy with all the dampness, rain, and possibly snow; nothing dries out. Bring mats and lots of old towels to keep the mud out, particularly if you have dogs.

Be careful of the flooding and land slides. Where are you staying in LC?

Sounds like you've done your homework. Do have a notebook and pen handy to jot down any thoughts as they come to you. If you are RV "Newbies" I'd STRONGLY recommend you find and attend an RV Boot Camp. The Escapees RV Club run an excellent one and, other groups also offer them. Mistakes made with RVs are often expensive and, sometimes dangerous. The time and money you spend at RV Boot Camp will be well spent. Congratulations on your new rig and, safe, smooth travels!

Hopefully you don't have to break too much.

I totally agree with the notes about making and following a checklist for hooking up and unhooking. We have camped in many of the State Parks on the Oregon Coast and really have enjoyed them. Since you are going in the winter, please be cautious when driving. Watch out for black ice and the ice that can form on bridges. Enjoy your trip!
