Highway 4 to lake alpine/bear valley

Fairly new Rv’er, planning on riding my mountain bike up in the bear valley area and was hoping to camp at lake alpine (silver tip campground). I know the road turns to lane and a half past the lake and Ebbetts pass is a no go for a travel trailer. Curious how highway 4 from Stockton to the campground is? I’ll be towing my 25ft Rockwood mini lite with my 2013 f-150. Thanks!

Highway 4 from Stockton kinda sucks for trailers...it's got lots of turns and very winding in my opinion. I think you would be better off traveling North on 5 to Lodi and take 12 east until you hit 49 in San Andreas, then head south to 4 and up to the lake. I've towed various trailers this route for many years (camp in Dorrington) and it's not bad with a fair number of passing lanes and such. Hope this helps.
